MATHWORKS INFORMATION SESSION, January 23 2012
The social was a great way to find out about what Mathworks does and, more importantly, what new recruits do at Mathworks. The speakers outlines their experiences at Mathworks and how they've liked it so far. Mathworks is a growing company with varied career opportunities.
For those of you who missed it, here's what you really wanted to know:
- Mathworks is actively hiring throughout the year
- They are looking for individuals with a good engineering background and strong programming skills
- There are many departments and aspects of work that you can be involved in at Mathworks and, after your training period, you are free to move between departments, teams and projects (as long as you see your projects through, of course)
- There is a large group of new grad students who you can will work and grow with (along with all the help and supervision you need or want)

WOMEN IN ENGINEERING TALK
The speaker Dr. Robin Autenrieth, is the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs. Participation from female graduate students for this event was great. Dr. Autenreith primarily discussed the challenges faced by women faculty in engineering. She enthusiastically answered questions from the audience. This talk was especially helpful for the female grad students aspiring for academic career. Few other issues discussed were how to plan for the tenure procedure of a faculty position, and how to balance between personal and professional life.
On request from students, MEGSO is willing to conduct such talks in future. For details about this talk or related information contact shraddha.sangelkar@gmail.com.
